Tamil Nadu: College teacher arrested for 'luring' students into prostitution

In a shameful incident, an assistant professor Nirmala Devi was held by police over allegedly trying to lure some girl students to do sexual favours for high officials in Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU).

But, the issue came to light yesterday after an audio of purported conversation between her and some students went viral in the social media. She was taken to the Aruppukkottai town police station. "It is important to enquire into such matters immediately and without prejudice so that guilty do not escape without punishment", the statement said. She visits Madurai regularly to correct the answer-sheets of students appearing for exams.

According to The Hindu, while the professor could not be contacted, she revealed to a news channel that her the whole conversation had been twisted by her students and extracting sexual favours from them was not her intention. Madurai Kamraj University Vice Chancellor, Selladurai met with Governor to apprise him of the situation. In the audio clipping, Nirmala Devi could be heard advising her pupils, over phone, about the opportunity awaiting them.

London violent crime: 18-year-old man stabbed in Forest Gate
Speaking of the Brixton stabbing, a Met Police spokesman told Sky News: "Officers attended, along with London's Air Ambulance". A man is in custody for stabbing a man to death and beating his estranged wife with a baseball bat, authorities say.

".You might have seen the video of Governor's visit which I had given you". In the audio conversation, the professor is heard saying that the Governor is not an "old man". When the pupil says Nothing Doing, Nirmala Devi asks them to take their own time and get back to her in a couple of days. Because they are high ranking officials of the university. "We are still clueless about the details of charges", he said. "I have ordered the probe team to submit its report in 15 days", he told reporters. But the lecturer, who has been suspended by the college after a preliminary inquiry, denied any sexual connotation and said she had given the advice "in the right spirit". "We demand an impartial probe into the issue to bring out all those powerful people behind the assistant professor", she said.

The professor started with the assignment 12 years ago but today, she has a different version of the assignment and gives it only for extra credit to her students. "Such people should be killed by an encounter", he told reporters here.

DMK chief MK Stalin sought a CBI probe into the matter.
