Stephanopoulos Grills Kellyanne Conway on Comey Interview: 'That's Not Correct Either'

On Sunday night, Comey's interview with ABC's "20/20" was broadcasted, with the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director saying Trump was "morally unfit to be president".

"If he really felt like he was saving the country rather than selling books, why did he wait until an interview with you not under oath and selling a book not under oath?"

"I saw Jim Comey last night and I said 'this guy swung an election?' I don't think so", Conway told Chris Cuomo on CNN, shaking her head in disbelief at the notion.

"Well, he actually answered a lot of those questions under oath before the Senate Judiciary Committee a year ago", Stephanopoulos told Conway.

Conway's pushback is part of a concerted effort the White House and Republican National Committee to undermine Comey's credibility as he conducts a media blitz to promote his book, "A Higher Calling: Truth, Lies, and Leadership", which is set to be released Tuesday. "He loved being alone in the Oval Office".

Conway said his opinion was limited to a few "personal engagements" with the president. And this is somebody who's given a revisionist version of history. "The president hardly knew the man".

Conway was likely referring to a letter Comey sent to Congress 11 days before the 2016 general election, in which the then-FBI director wrote that more emails had turned up in the Hillary Clinton email probe. She later tweeted that she was just joking.

Kellyanne Conway slams Comey: "'This guy swung an election, '" she tweeted. She did this even as she's putting Comey on blast per the White House playbook. "Add sarcasm and stir".

Trump, who's referred to Comey as "slippery" and a "slimeball", fired back at the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director again Monday for his handling of the Clinton probe.

"If you're really anxious about counter-terrorism and alleged Russian interference and you don't know the president-elect - get up to Trump Tower like everybody else did and sit down and brief the man sooner", she said.

Huh. So it seems Conway is criticizing Comey for swinging the election for Trump, something that Conway and Trump benefitted from, I guess? "I think he struggled to answer basic questions, and he looked a little shaky".
