On the rear, there is the similar vertical arrangement of the LED flash, camera lenses and the fingerprint scanner.

It is still Monday but Sony already delivered what will likely be the biggest announcement of the week. Sony says on the official page of the phone that - We wanted to bring the most advanced technological developments together in a seamless form.

However, those who signed-up to a 24-month mobile contract to get their hands on the new hardware will be disappointed to learn that Sony has teased the launch of an all-new Xperia XZ handset.

The power button and volume rockers are present on the sides along with the dedicated camera shutter key that we have seen on nearly every Sony phone launched previously. Xperia XZ2 Premium is IP65/IP68 [iv] certified to withstand splashes and spills. Dimensions measure 158 x 80 x 11.9 mm and it weighs 236g. Just like the Xperia XZ2, there is no headphone jack on the XZ2 Premium.

The smartphone is powered by a 2.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. The phone has microSDXC support up to 400GB. For additional speed and efficiency XZ2 Premium has 6GB RAM. The battery has a capacity of 3450 mAh and supports Qi wireless charging and Quick Charge 3.0. The Xperia XZ2 Premium is notably Sony's first high-end flagship phone to come with dual rear cameras. The 19MP Motion Eye shooter has an aperture of F1.8 and the black/white sensor uses an aperture of F1.6. Usually, photos (and videos) at such high ISO levels from a phone, would be expected to be unusable.

"The phone has dual camera setup with 19 megapixels rear camera having Exmos RS sensor, 1/2.3" sensor, f/1.8 aperture G Lens, 1.22μm pixel size, Predictive capture and 5-axis stabilization along with 12 megapixels secondary monochrome sensor having 1/2.3" Exmor RS sensor, 1.55μm pixel size, f/1.6 aperture G Lens.

Additionally, the XZ2 Premium smartphone runs on an Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box.

In addition, there are some impressive audio features added to the Xperia XZ2 Premium which would now explain the 16:9 aspect ratio. While the company didn't reveal the pricing of the smartphone at the launch event, it will be available globally from Summer 2018. The Sony XZ2 Premium smartphone to be available in two different color options, Chrome Black and Chrome Silver.
