US President Donald Trump says he plans to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un next month or in early June and hopes the discussions will ultimately lead to an end of the North's nuclear weapons program.
The North's official Korea Central News Agency said the visit by the art troupe would strengthen the countries' friendly relations "onto a new high stage" following leader Kim's "first historic visit to China".
Song last visited the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, in November to discuss the outcome of China's 19th Communist Party Congress.
The festival is held in Pyongyang as part of the commemorations for the anniversary of the birth of the North's founder Kim Il Sung on April 15, 1912.
