Man charged in North Side cellphone store robbery that led to mileslong pursuit

The incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. Monday at Kim's Gift Shop in the Copaco Shopping Plaza, 297 Cottage Grove Road, according to police.

Jesus Manuel Gonzales, 19, was charged with one count of armed robbery.

Police determined the two men were the suspects in the attempted armed robbery and arrested them. The police said: "FTB bank received the information from City Bank from the US about transferring money for 50,000 United States dollars to Nigerian couple account at FTB bank on March 26, 2018".

Police said that the accused tried to snatch the victim's phone but he resisted.

Nothing has been said as to whether any of these robberies are related.
