Michy Batshuayi is unlikely to feature for Borussia Dortmund again this season, and faces a race against time to be fit for Belgium's World Cup campaign.

Batshuayi was taken off on a stretcher late in the Ruhr derby, having appeared to roll his ankle, and the striker confirmed Dortmund's fears on Monday.

A Dortmund club tweet said: "Michy Batshuayi has sustained an ankle injury in the derby against Schalke".

Batshuayi is expected to return to Chelsea for the remainder of the season in hope that the medical team at Stamford Bridge can get him back to fitness as soon as possible. However, he could still recover in time for the FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation.

The Chelsea loanee has been a revelation at Dortmund since his arrival in January, scoring seven goals in only 10 league games.
