Earlier on Friday, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah urged Mufti to take stringent action against the ministers who are supporting the accused in Kathua rape case.

He had also reportedly said that raping and murdering the girl was not a big issue as "such incidents do happen in the world on daily basis".

Ms Mufti has also written to the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, requesting for setting up of a special fast track court to try the brutal rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua.

"The lesson for them is to allow the law to take its own course before opening your mouth", Lekhi said. "I support you for your demand of shifting this case to the CBI". I will fight with them and for them, as they are my people.

The spokesman said that it was reiterated in the meeting that demanding CBI investigation into the case doesn't tantamount to shielding the real accused.

In Unnao, a 17-year-old was raped last year allegedly by Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kuldeep Sengar, who has been named in a Central Bureau of Investigation First Information Report and questioned April 13.

They had allegedly instigated mobs, with Ganga even equating the arrests to a "jungle raj" and warning the police.

She had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday regarding the same. "They heard us and went back to their homes", he said. It is after almost three months that the gory incident has evoked widespread outrage across the country with strong voices being raised by political leaders, social activists, civil society groups and Bollywood celebrities for awarding severe punishment to the perpetrators of the crime. He said, "It's an insult to the freedom fighters who gave their lives for the Independence of this country". Such incidents happening in any parts of India shake our conscience.

He further assured the countrymen that no culprit will be spared and complete justice will be done in both the cases.

The two BJP ministers, from the PDP-BJP alliance, tendered their resignations to Sat Sharma due to mounting pressure from opponents.

In conclusion not only did Lekhi let herself down as a woman, but she has also caused considerably damage to the collective reputation of her party and PM Modi on their much-touted claims that they cared about women's safety.
