Zenani, who struggled to hold back tears while speaking at Madikizela-Mandela's funeral at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg, lambasted the media for "peddling lies" about her mother and her contribution to the struggle, and only tell the truth when she was dead.
She said those who vilified her mother should not for one moment think that the family would forget that. "It is so disappointing to see how they withheld their words during my mother's lifetime, knowing very well what they would have meant to her", said Mandela-Dlamini.
She also questioned why men in the struggle weren't subjected to the same scrutiny, and said, "double standards obscure the huge efforts of women" in the struggle.
"Despite the hardships of the struggle, she emerged ever defiant and brimming with more determination to bring about change in the lives of her brothers and sisters", said Geingob at the burial of Madikizela- Mandela on Saturday.

The ANC says Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's death marks a turning point in the fight against patriarchy. "Her burning flame of passion shall continue to illuminate our lives, as we continue our struggle into its second phase -that of economic emancipation", he said.
"She combined rare multiple roles of a woman: a mother, grandmother, freedom fighter, party organiser and a parliamentarian among others".
Then he lashed out at executives of the ruling ANC's women's league who also disowned Winnie Mandela at a time she was leading the group, then again he added: "Ma, I'm waiting for a signal on how we should treat them". "She fought because the fight against apartheid was not some polite picnic at which you showed up in your best behaviour", she said.
The opening lines of "Nokunyamezela" go, "Wabuya etilongweni, wabuya wangena kwenye", which translates to that Mama Winnie left prison only to get into another prison.
