ABC interview with James Comey gets 9.8 million viewers, is bested by country music awards

Trump said in a tweet.

Trump called Comey an "untruthful slime ball" in a tweet and wrote that "it was my great honor to fire" him.

Comey provided the assessment in an interview with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos that aired Sunday night.

Comey also reflected on the controversy over Hillary Clinton's personal email account.

"The FBI got information that there was somebody who had had- was a foreign policy advisor named Papadopoulos to the Trump campaign....who had been talking to someone in London about getting dirt that the Russians had on Hillary Clinton as part of their effort to influence our campaign- the- our election".

"After tonight, I hope people know more about what James Comey has been thinking and feeling since that day", he said. "It's possible, but I don't know".

Comey's response to Russian Federation having compromising material on President Trump also was maddening to many as he vacillated-simply saying it's "possible"-leaving a major issue extremely open-ended".

In talking about the controversial conversation he had with Trump after the president excused everyone else from an Oval Office meeting and spoke exclusively to Comey, the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director said that a specific part of that conversation could be viewed as a form of obstruction of justice.

The president fired Comey as head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on May 9, 2017. Just another of his many lies.

Comey also testified previous year that he gave some of his memos of conversations he had with Trump to a Columbia University professor, but that he had written the memos specifically to avoid including classified information.

And there were pull-ups with added weight because his 250 pounds were not challenging enough. Harrison previously announced his retirement four years ago, only to reverse that decision.

And Comey said the president may have obstructed justice when he asked him to drop an investigation into former national security advisor Michael Flynn.

"That's stunning", said Stephanopoulos, a former aide to President Bill Clinton. But, she said, "if they feel there was any wrongdoing, they should certainly look into that just as they do on a number of other topics".

But the president's attacks on Comey began even before the interview came out.

The president said Comey "stupidly" handled a probe into Trump's 2016 election rival Hillary Clinton and how she used a private email server during her time as secretary of state.

Comey's disclosure shortly before the election that the FBI had reopened its investigation into her email use enraged Democrats.

In the interview excerpt released Saturday, Comey said he did not remember "consciously thinking" about the election results as he chose to disclose that the FBI had reopened its investigation into candidate Clinton's email use.

"The American people see right through the blatant lies of a self-admitted leaker", Sanders said Friday.

Lynch says she was simply following longstanding Justice Department protocol against confirming or denying the existence of an investigation.

The man who served as Trump's Federal Bureau of Investigation director until the president fired him in May said the truth, the rule of law and integrity were "things [that] matter before any fights about policies" like whether the US should build a border wall or more strictly regulate the sale guns.
