Tiger Woods will reportedly serve as the USA team's captain for the Presidents Cup in Melbourne, Australia in 2019 and it is expected that he'll be introduced on Tuesday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, according to Alex Miceli of Morning Read.

"I had a good shot at winning the tournament", Woods said in a post-round interview on CBS.

Tiger Woods' playing career is heading in a positive direction once again, and the 14-time major champion looks set to take up a non-playing role in next year's Presidents Cup as captain of the United States team.

However, the historical template has been somewhat upended as Stricker was the captain for the last Presidents Cup team, and he seems to be a likely candidate for the 2020 Ryder Cup captaincy, too.

The 2019 matches will be December 12-15 at Royal Melbourne, the latest the Presidents Cup has been played.

Packers free agency: Why they shouldn't sign Jimmy Graham
A five-time Pro Bowler, Graham picked Aaron Rodgers and the Packers over a reunion with Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints . To some surprise, he is instead signing with the Green Bay Packers, according to multiple reports Tuesday afternoon.

"I'm proud to follow in the footsteps of past captains like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Hale Irwin, Ken Venturi, Fred Couples, Jay Haas and Steve Stricker. The core group of players on the US Team have a lot of talent, enthusiasm and great team camaraderie". Ernie Els will be named the captain of the Internationals team, according to the report. That's more than any other player. He could potentially be a playing captain given how well he's hitting it right now and the fact that he's finished in the top 15 in each of his last two PGA Tour starts.

In 2018, Melbourne will also host the 59th edition of the World Cup of Golf at The Metropolitan Golf Club from November 21-15.

Woods and Els are certain to inject some life into the matches, from their own relationship and history, and from the most intense moment in Presidents Cup history. The U.S. won the 2017 match 19-11, its seventh consecutive win. The announcement is expected to be made on Tuesday. Each player shall play a minimum of one match prior to the final-round singles matches.

Woods was runner-up at the Valspar Championship on Sunday and plays at Bay Hill this week, where he is an eight-time victor.
