Ex-Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson signs 1-year deal with Packers

Working out a contract with Wilkerson continued a busy day for the Packers, who also agreed to a deal with tight end Jimmy Graham and released wide receiver Jordy Nelson, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

In good news for Wilkerson, he can be reinvigorated by playing for a victor, something CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reported was important to him when discussing Wilkerson on our Pick Six Podcast Free Agency Preview (listen and subscribe to all episodes here).

Green Bay added to its free-agency splash Tuesday by reaching an agreement with Wilkerson, the once-promising defensive end the Jets released February 28. He can stop the run, rush the passer, and create interior pressure that wreaks havoc and opens opportunities for other players.

The Packers won the race for Wilkerson's service. The New York Jets defense finished top 10 in most major categories, and Wilkerson's performance was a big reason for that. Coach Mike McCarthy fired defensive coordinator Dom Capers in January after nine seasons. If anyone knows how good Wilkerson can be, it's Pettine.

Federer eyes sixth Indian Wells Masters with demolition of Krajinovic
At the same time, have fun with my game, play variation, but for the most part try to stay on the offensive, as well. Federer, the defending champion and five-time victor , needed just 58 minutes to wrap up a 6-2 6-1 victory.

Wilkerson, 28, has a chance to rewrite the script under defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, who served in the same role with the Jets in Wilkerson's first two seasons.

It's been a couple years since he made that kind of impact, but if Wilkerson can stay healthy and return to form, he's the type of talent that transforms an entire defensive line.

The Jets placed the franchise tag on Wilkerson in 2016 to prevent him from hitting free agency, but his future with the team remained in doubt.

What are your thoughts on the two signings?
