The Democratic memo is meant to serve as a sort of counter to the GOP memo, which describes how the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation acquired and executed surveillance warrants for former Page, in part by allegedly using the dossier of unverified information about Mr. Trump's interactions with Russians. "Just confirms all of the awful things that were done", he said, adding "SO ILLEGAL!"
Trump, who had earlier blocked release of the Democratic memo, declared the GOP memo had vindicated him in the ongoing investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller.
"While the Democrats' memorandum attempts to undercut the president politically, the president supported its release in the interest of transparency", the White House said Saturday, after the memo was released.
Sanders says the Democratic memo is "politically driven". President Donald Trump's approval for the public posting of the counter-memo came after an agreement was reached on redacting parts of an earlier version for national security reasons.
