Too much being made of Chelsea's troubles - Conte

Antonio Conte admits Alvaro Morata is a major doubt for Barcelona showdown

Alvaro Morata’s injury has become a source of real concern for Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte believes Chelsea would be "stupid" to show him the door despite a run of terrible results.

Christensen returned to Chelsea last summer following a highly productive two-year loan at Borussia Monchengladbach and, despite starting the season on the bench, he took Luiz's place in the middle of the back three in November after the Brazilian was dropped for a Premier League match against Manchester United due to tensions with Conte. "I think in the future it will be very important to try (to create) a little space, a little room with the federation (Football Association) to try to give rest to the players", he said.

"We are in the FA Cup competition, and we reached the semi-finals in the [Carabao] Cup".

Conte would be aiming to avoid losing three consecutive games for the first time in nine years as West Brom visits Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

"We are talking about a team that is we are keeping our expectations".

"We realise it's a hard task when you see the fixtures we have coming up, hence why I say it will probably define our season", said Chelsea captain Gary Cahill.

The former Juventus coach won the league title at the first attempt last season but his side have failed to keep pace with runaway leaders Manchester City this time around.

Historically, the fixture has favoured Chelsea as they've lost just once against the Baggies in their last 10 meetings.

'For this reason, there are too many speculations around this club, around me, around this team.

"I think the most important thing is to understand the situation and understand what your targets are", said Conte.

Blues director Marina Granovskaia is understood to hold huge admiration for Silva, who impressed immensely during early days at Watford. 'I don't think talking about my future can affect the players.

"Then the situation totally changed because I followed my work and changed totally the situation with the players. You beat yourself up and then move on and get back on track".

"Especially in England, it's not simple". But in my vision, you can win but, at the same time, the club might not be happy to stay with you.

There are two ways.

'At the same time, you can trust in a coach and his work and continue with him even if you don't win, and try and build something important. There is a stupid way and an intelligent way.

The Portuguese coach raised his stock considerably at Hull where he was appointed in January 2017 and although he was unable to avoid relegation he recorded a credible six wins in the Premier League. Any manager which threatens the club Champions League status has previously been replaced mid-season by Chelsea. "It's right to look at the stats, but we have to take the stats in the right way".
