The Bolero was speeding and is reported to have lost control near the school.
Waiting to cross National Highway-77 to get home after their school closed on Saturday afternoon, nine schoolchildren died after a speeding vehicle hit them at Minapur, in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district.
As per reports, the incident took place when the vehicle rammed into a school building causing the fatalities.
Officers said the driver hit the children at speed as he was driving away from another location close to the school, where his vehicle had brushed against a pedestrian.
Meanwhile, the injured have been admitted to the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur.

He was received at the airport by Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, CM Palaniswami and Deputy CM O Panneerselvam . From there, he flew to INS Adyar Naval base near Marina beach, from where he reached the function venue by road.
The source further said that three of the 24 injured are in critial condition.
SSP Vivek Kumar has said that Bolero driver is being searched and he will be arrested soon.
The state government has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin of each victim. "Nevertheless, the partys district president for Muzaffarpur has been asked to look into the matter and if the owner or the driver turn out to be connected with the party at any level, stern action will be taken". As soon as the family came to know of the incident, the family reached the hospital.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed grief and sorrow over the incident.
