Riyad Mahrez returns to Leicester City training

Leicester City will feel there's no better time to be playing Manchester City, as their busy winter schedule seems to be taking its toll.

Mahrez is said to be very low after the collapse of his transfer to City and there is a suggestion he has been out of the country.

"He made perhaps a mistake".

Riyad Mahrez hit back at accusations he had gone AWOL since being denied a move to Manchester City after returning to training with Leicester, paving the way for a possible return for Saturday's visit to City.

Even with the five-man back line, not one of Leicester's three centre backs was able to adjust their body position enough to step back and intercept De Bruyne's cross as it flashed behind them with just a couple of minutes of the game gone.

The Foxes have taken just one point from their last four Premier League away games, having been unbeaten in the previous seven.

Kevin De Bruyne had said he was exhausted during the 1-1 draw with Burnley and Guardiola says he hopes to give him more time off if he can get some players back from injuries.

In his address at the marathon, host governor Akinwumi Ambode pledged to train Nigerian athletes to ensure a home victory in two years.

BBC reports that the Argentina striker took his tally to 13 in 10 games in 2018 with another display of deadly finishing, aided by a brilliant performance by Kevin de Bruyne, who set up his side's first three goals. "He's a top, top player and if City are interested in the summer, as they might be, then the deal might get done then".

Sergio Aguero completed his second-half hat-trick in the 77th minute, when the Argentine took a gift and extended the Blues' lead to 4-1.

"Delph and Foden can play in that position but they're injured so that's why I couldn't move a lot".

Raheem Sterling had given City an early lead but Leicester went into the break on level terms thanks to Jamie Vardy's equaliser. "Congratulations to him because it's not easy to score four goals", added Guardiola.

Leicester forward Vardy latched onto a loose ball before beating City defender Aymeric Laporte for pace and finished emphatically in the far corner. Palace have lost only two of their previous 15 top-flight games and Hodgson will be hoping to compound matters for his England successor.

Guardiola would have liked to rest Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero, but injuries to David Silva and Gabriel Jesus means he can't rotate too much. But their second goal changed the game. Aguero has four! He picks it up 25 yards out and rifles a dipping drive in off the bar.

Another talking point from the match was the reappearance of Mahrez.
