Amid uncertainty if Rahul Gandhi will call for election to the Congress Working Committee, AICC on Saturday said the party has always given its president the top decision-making body of his choice. After the plenary session, the panel will give way for the formation of a new Congress Working Committee.
"Rahul Gandhi has constituted a Steering Committee for the forthcoming Plenary Session as per Article XV (vii) (b) of the party Constitution". Till now CWC members have mostly been selected by the party president.
The dates were fixed at a meeting of the Steering Committee, which was formed after dissolving the Central Working Committee.

As per the party's constitution, the 25-member CWC has 12 elected members and 11 nominated members, besides the Congress president and the chairperson of the Congress parliamentary party.
Rahul has identified joblessness, the farm crisis and corruption as the main issues on which the BJP will be targeted in the comings months, said party sources, adding that the leader wanted the Congress to represent all classes and focus on articulating the concerns of women, Dalits, tribals and OBCs.
"The Prime Minister must also tell the nation how a fraud of this magnitude escaped the eyes of all the auditors and investigators conducting "statutory audit", "internal audit", "concurrent audit" and even the RBI's own audit?" the statement said.
"The Congress plenary session will be held in Delhi on March 16, 17 and 18", said Surjewala.
