Marion Maréchal-Le Pen portrayed herself as a disciple of President Trump as the former rising star of the French far-right marked her return to the political arena with attacks on the European Union and Islam.
French media suggests the appearance of Marechal-Le Pen, tipped to be a potential leader for the National Front, foreshadows a return to politics as her aunt struggles to give new life - and perhaps a new name - to the party.
"I refuse the standardized world of the European Union... all I want is the survival of my nation... this young French generation are not encouraged to connect with and love their heritage, they are brainwashed with guilt and shame of their country", she said in her speech.
On one hand you could claim that CPAC organizer Matt Schlapp can't be blamed for not knowing about all of these details, because apart from a subtitled speech on abortion that she tweeted out herself and a few rare interviews, you have to actually speak French to know what Marion believes.
Praising President Trump's attitude of America First, Marion said she agreed that the people of all natuions shouldn't be ashamed to want to look out for their own interests, remarking: "I am not offended when I hear President Donald Trump say "America First".
"You have succeeded in putting conservatism right back on the top of the political agenda".

"The challenge is enormous", she said.
Former lawmaker Marion Marechal-Le Pen, 28, disappeared from the public eye a year ago after aunt Marine Le Pen, president of the National Front party, suffered a crushing loss in France's presidential race to Emmanuel Macron.
The EU has "imposed" its laws and regulations on her country, she said, and politically correct immigration policies were altering France's character as a millenium-old Catholic nation.
"The result is the development of Islamic society in France".
Marechal-Le Pen, an arch-conservative and former lawmaker, is the niece of Marine Le Pen, the leader of France's far-right National Front party (FN).
"Vive la France!" an attendee shouted out.
