Mumbai: To stop people from celebrating Valentine's Day on Wednesday, a group did something weird. Reports suggest that since the morning of February 14, Bajrang Dal workers have been roaming around the streets and had been pulling up the couples they found. Sources suggest that the Bajrang Dal workers also thrashed a few of the couples who were out celebrating the V-Day. In videos recorded by passers-by, several people carrying saffron flags and wielding sticks could be seen threatening couples, the agency said. "As announced by us [on Tuesday], the VHP and Bajrang Dal members today held protests at the riverfront", said Hemendra Trivedi, the VHP's media coordinator for North Gujarat.

While couples thronged restaurants, pubs, cinema halls and parks in cities and towns to celebrate the day - which coincided with the Hindu festival of Shivratri this year - police said they had taken measures to ensure that there was no violence against courting couples.

In Bengaluru, the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) organised wedding of two sheep on Wednesday in support of Valentine's Day.
