If you damage your HomePod, don't bother repairing it yourself

The Apple HomePod Sounds Good, But Other Smart Speakers Sound Better

Apple Homepod fix costs almost as much as a new speaker itself

This, of course, is an area where Google Home Max excels.

Apple's HomePod costs a premium price of $349, and if you want warranty on it, it will run you an additional $39. They work well. But they are also usually exclusively created to work with other Apple products and services. Amazon and Google are expected to lead the way but will Apple be able to slow them down exclusively reliant on brand loyalty or will a price adjustment need to be made?

Still, 30 million users is nothing to scoff at, and many of them are most likely looking for a way to get the most out of their music. Generally speaking, if you're all in on iOS and Apple Music, plus you don't mind waiting for Siri to get smarter, you'll be happy with a HomePod. The $449 HomePod is all of these things, and it drives me insane. I could say the same thing "When You Say Nothing at All" by Allison Kraus and Union Station. As it pertains to Apple's new HomePod smart speaker, the cost of an out-of-warranty fix is almost as much as buying a brand new one, which could nudge buyers towards purchasing an AppleCare+ add-on.

The Echo and the HomePod also both have a soft mesh exterior and touch controls on top. According to Consumer Reports, the HomePod's bass was too "boomy" which made the midrange sounds hazy.

That's the first thing I did with the HomePod. The Echo, meanwhile, has one tweeter in the center of the device. While the HomePod may technically be the better device for accurate sound reproduction, it's more important which speakers deliver the sound the listeners prefer.

"Dead on arrival": DACA deal looking unlikely as McConnell sides with Trump
The Senate's Republican and Democratic leaders say it's going to be tough to broker a successful deal on immigration policy. Led by Chuck Grassley, GOP senators are preparing a comprehensive immigration bill - as called for by President Trump.

There were a variety of methods that were used to initiate the teardown of the HomePod but they were all improvised and not through in the attempts. But the HomePod played reasonably loudly in a midsized room. AppleCare+ extends the HomePod's warranty to two years and knocks down the cost of future repairs to a mere $29 each.

"HomePod is an Apple-only device, so it is much more limited in what it can control in terms of smart home gadgets", said Martin.

The HomePod is a cylindrical unit standing at just under 18cm tall (7 inches) and weighs 2.5kg.

But if you're looking for a great way to listen to music, the HomePod is well worth considering.
