According to the warrant, one note said Giles "developed a fondness of Turney yet resented Free for his lifestyle and success" and another stated, "I want Gavin Free to die alone, with no children". The couple awoke to the sound of a gunshot and shattering glass, before hearing someone enter the house through the back door. Giles died at the scene, and although the Albuquerque search warrant says his injury may have been self-inflicted, an official ruling has not been made.

"Threatening thoughts were recorded by Giles and directed toward" the 29-year-old, KVUE reported, citing a police investigation into the fan's cellphone video.

Christopher Eric Giles, 24, drove 11 hours from New Mexico to Texas before breaking into the video personality's home on January 26, FOX7 Austin reported.

YouTube stars Gavin Free and Meg Turney were the target of an armed home invasion, that resulted in the death of the intruder. They hid in their bedroom closet and called 911 while Giles searched their home for them.

Gavin Free is the creator of the Slow Mo Guys channel on YouTube along with Daniel Gruchy; the duo created a YouTube ad-supported original series that launched last month. Giles fired a single shot from his vehicle while backing out of the driveway.

When Austin Police Officers arrived at the address, they saw a dark colored Lincoln sedan back out of the driveway before a shot was sacked from inside.

Turney and Free amassed internet fame through their YouTube videos. His phone was full of notes centering on Turney, whose YouTube videos run the gamut from relationship advice to online gaming to her popular "Ask Meg" segment.

Ms Turney added: "Thank y'all so, so much for each and every kind message today and a special thank you to the Austin Police for their quick response that night and their ongoing support during this hard time". An affidavit obtained by the Albuquerque Journal described Giles as "an avid player of video games and was known for watching YouTube videos that were centered on his hobby". I just wanted to say thanks for all the support and concern regarding the recent incident.

"I want to give a huge thanks to Austin Police for the fantastic response time".
