Argentine Football President Tells Messi To Play Less For Barcelona

Argentina FA chief has urged Lionel Messi to “play less” for Barcelona

Barcelona asked to stop playing Messi

While Tapia obviously wants Messi in the best condition before the 2018 World Cup, Barcelona will field their star player at the business end of the season.

That instruction has come from his worldwide federation - from Argentina's national football association president Claudio Tapia.

Argentina might have had to crawl through the elimination stages to book a spot in football's biggest showdown, the FIFA World Cup 2018 but they can not be written off with the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Paulo Dybala in the fray. The Chelsea striker told Movistar+: 'Messi can't be stopped.

The coach did leave Messi out of the starting line-up for the first time in the league against Espanyol on February 4 but threw the Argentine on as a substitute to help salvage a 1-1 draw.

He was benched against Espanyol in the derby, but he came on in the second half in the 1-1-1 draw.

Queen Elizabeth II declares war on plastic
It looks like 2018 could be the year in which we start to, collectively, take plastic waste reduction seriously. Royal caterers will instead use china plates and glasses or recyclable paper cups.

I hope all the players arrive in the level they are at the moment.

The Argentina Football Association has asked Barcelona to stop playing Messi. "Sergio Aguero is playing outstanding football right now and Messi is always at the top of his game", Tapia said.

Barcelona have also qualified for the Copa del Rey final where Messi has scored three goals in the last five games.

Tapia also commented Argentina are planning to play a friendly against Catalonia in June as part of their World Cup preparations.

That is important for the leaders and the coaching staff. If it goes through the clash will see Messi come up against some of his Barca teammates Sergio Roberto, Gerard Pique among others.
