Golfer Bill Haas injured in fatal car crash

The 35-year-old was in a Ferrari which collided with a BMW in the Pacific Palisades area at 18.31 on Tuesday (02:31 GMT, Wednesday). The accident took place just before 6:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The Los Angeles Fire Department's report confirmed that one person, age and gender unknown, died in the crash, while a 35-year-old male and 50-year-old female were "both in serious condition".

The Ferrari is believed to have clipped Luke Wilson's Toyota FJ SUV which was traveling northbound, police told KTLA. A vehicle driven by actor Luke Wilson was also involved in the crash, CNN affiliate KTLA reported.

Haas was taken to a hospital but released with no serious injuries.

The driver of the Ferrari was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man inside the Ferrari was reportedly aged 71.

Fischer also said that that Wilson had not sustained any serious injuries in the crash. Luckily, he is expected to make a full recovery. A source told later golfdigest.com that Haas was "not good" but in stable condition. It's owned by actor Luke Wilson, Fischer said. "Apparently, from what I was told, he's doing okay too", he said.

World number 67 Haas was due to contest this week's PGA Tour event, the Genesis Open, at the nearby Riviera Country Club.

The six-time PGA champion is in Los Angeles to compete in the Genesis Open this week.
