Tom Cable is on the verge of returning to the Bay Area.

The Raiders proceeded to fire head coach Jack Del Rio and hire Jon Gruden to lead the team after the season. Cable was named head coach the following season and posted a 17-27 mark over parts of three seasons at the helm.

Here are some of the top moments from Gruden's media session.

He followed that feat with the now famous quote, "We're not losers anymore".

He went to Seattle after that, and spent seven seasons as Seahawks assistant head coach in charge of the offensive line. Cable was sacked after the conclusion of the 2017 regular season, but like Gruden, he's now set to return to a familiar workplace.

Kane would go on to break that record 12 minutes later when he scored his second goal of the evening. Despite Kane scoring a brace, the Lilywhites' main man was without a doubt winger Heung-min Son.

Oakland went just 17-27 under Cable's direction, and he was sacked after his third season. At training camp in 2009, defensive assistant Randy Hanson sustained a broken jaw and accused Cable of assault.

General manager Reggie McKenzie said Tuesday at Gruden's introductory news conference two minority candidates, Raiders tight end coach Bobby Johnson and University of Southern California offensive coordinator Tee Martin, were interviewed.

The hiring of Cable will also net a happier running back in Marshawn Lynch, who had his glory years in the Pacific Northwest with Cable as his offensive line coach.

It also should be noted that former offensive coordinator Todd Downing's scheme was unsuccessful while utilizing zone blocking, that doesn't mean Cable's would be.
