San Diego Spent $278K to Protect Border Wall Prototypes

San Diego Doled Out Nearly $278000 for Security at Trump's Border Wall Testing Site

During that January 27 conversation, a transcript of which was leaked to the Washington Post, Trump characterized the wall as "the least important thing that we are talking about, but politically this might be the most important [thing we] talk about".

The president also discussed the Camp David meeting on Twitter, pointing to infrastructure, immigration and border security as upcoming agenda items.

If border crossings are under better control without a wall, thus helping realize Trump's mission on immigration, his continued insistence on building one smacks of vanity to get his way.

Trump also said the drug crisis in America had reached unprecedented levels and vowed his administration would make a "big dent" in resolving the problem this year.

President Trump has proposed spending $18 billion over the next decade to construct a new and improved border wall between the USA and Mexico.

A border-wall prototype is seen among the construction of the prototypes near the Otay Mesa Port of Entry outside of San Diego, as seen from Tijuana, Mexico, on October 16, 2017. On Tuesday, a federal judge in California declined the Trump administration's proposal to end the program.

The CBP document requests a total of $33,000 million in new expenditures for the border, including $18,000 million for the wall, $5,700 million for acquisition of equipment and other surveillance technology; $1,000 million for the construction and maintenance of roads; and $8.5 million to finance 5,000 new Border Patrol agents, 2,500 border inspectors and other personnel, the official said.

Cuellar, the son of migrant workers who represents South Texas, says some in the Democratic caucus are adamantly opposed to more barriers on the border. But once the cameras left the room, the president showed much more flexibility, according to lawmakers.

"If Congress passes another stop-gap funding bill without protecting Dreamers from deportation, Democrats and Republicans alike will face a massive backlash from the grass roots", said Ben Wikler, the Washington director of the organization MoveOn.

Although Democrats are willing to negotiate on border security, they are firmly opposed to Trump's wall, the funding of which still appears to be massive challenge for the Trump administration. A few days ago, he once again asked Congress for the necessary funding for this wall, which means that American citizens are definitely going to be paying for it. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains why this project must be halted before we waste billions of dollars on a project that will do absolutely nothing for this country.

Trump's demand for a wall isn't the only hurdle to a deal, however.

Then, like the U.S. Embassy in Israel, would-be illegal immigrants outside our boundaries would stay put for years to come, deterred by the wall of our president's dreams.

And even just focusing on DACA recipients when it comes to chain migration, as Trump has proposed, would be controversial among Democrats. "We're $700 billion in the hole", Paul said on CNN.
