Deepika's 'Padmavati' officially gets renamed as 'Padmaavat'!

The CBFC has suggested five modifications in "Padmavati", which included changing the film's title to "Padmavat", in December previous year.

The film got stuck after various Rajput groups alleged that it distorts history, a claim repeatedly denied by the director.

"The makers have submitted the final film with agreed five modifications".

After a long wait, the e Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has finally passed Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmavati starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh.

Karni Sena chief Lokendra Singh Kalvi, who is leading the protest against the movie, told media persons here: "We needed one small clarification that time that there will be nothing between Alauddin Khilji and Padmavati..." The CBFC had given the Deepika Padukone-starrer a U/A certificate and suggested many changes, including altering the title.

While the Indian states are perplexed whether to screen the movie or not in their respective states, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister of Goa has said that if "Padmavat" has been given a censor certificate by the CBFC, then the Goa government does not have a problem in screening it in cinema halls.

The CBFC asked Bhansali to change the name of his historical drama Padmavati to Padmavat, after the 16th Century epic that it is an adaptation of. The committee made by the CBFC watched the movie and said the movie was vulgar and the facts were distorted. The changes include those pertaining to disclaimers, one regarding not glorifying the practice of Sati and even relevant modifications in the song Ghoomar.

The makers, however, are not sticking to the suggested "Padmavat" and have added another "a", making it "Padmaavat", if we go by the film's official Twitter handle.

Though Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Bhansali have not released an official statement yet, sources in the production house said the film will release on January 25, a day before Republic Day.
