Carnival Cruise Line has confirmed the death of a passenger on a Bahamas cruise after a woman fell from her balcony onto a lower deck. The incident, which took place last Friday, is now being investigated by the Bahamas police.
On Monday, the Carnival Elation returned to port after the four-day cruise to the Bahamas.
"We weren't [allowed] off the pontoon to Freeport until the point when they researched it".
The woman, who has not been identified yet, plunged "several decks below", Carnival Cruise Line spokesman Vance Gulliksen told the Miami Herald.
Maureen La Bryer told Miami Herald that her daughter sent a text message shortly after the incident, indicating that there was "blood everywhere". "Our thoughts and prayers are with the deceased and her family". "They were taking pictures [and everything]", Burdewick, who was on the cruise with her husband Matthew, reportedly texted her mother.
New Zealand continue winning streak over Pakistan
Babar Azam (41) and tail-ender Hasan Ali (23) were the only two players in the Pakistan line-up to reach double figures. Tim Southee was the pick of the bowlers with 3/13 and he was well backed-up by Seth Rance who chipped in with 3/26.
The ship was on its second day of a five-day cruise.
The U.S. Coast Guard, Jacksonville Sheriff's Department, FBI, and Bahamian law enforcement are now assisting in the investigation. Several passengers on the ship notified that a woman went overboard, which was announced to the passengers around 8:30-9:00 last night.
Passengers return to the Carnival cruise ship Victory prior to leaving port in Key West, Florida on February 15, 2013.
It comes just a year after a man from Georgia, US, Kevin Wellons fell overboard from the 11th deck of the same ship - the Carnival Elation - while the ship was near the Bahamas.
