Kane, De Gea snubbed in 2017 UEFA Team of the Year

UEFA Champions League winners, Real Madrid, have five players in the team: Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo Vieira, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

As in previous years, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi grabbed the two forward spots to round out the fantasy team. The team was selected from a shortlist by UEFA.com users via a voting system.

Sergio Ramos received the most votes with 588,315, and is one of five Real Madrid players named in the side.

European football's governing body announced its annual Team of the Year on Thursday, after nearly 8.8 million votes were cast by users on UEFA's official website.

Eden Hazard has been rewarded for his fantastic year of 2017 with a spot in the UEFA Fan's Team of the Year. A poll of users on UEFA.com picked Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Marcelo among the best players of a year ago.

UEFA have announced their official 2017 Team of the Year, but Neymar did not make the cut.

The team is voted for by fans with nearly nine million votes cast and lines up in a 4-4-2 formation.
