Feinstein on Tuesday released the full transcript of the committee's interview with Glenn Simpson, the co-founder of the opposition research firm that produced the explosive dossier detailing alleged ties between Trump and Russian Federation.
In over 300 pages of testimony released unilaterally on Tuesday by the Senate Judiciary Committee's top Democrat, Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson told investigators that the former spy who compiled the dossier told him that the Federal Bureau of Investigation had an informant in the Trump campaign. He says she released the testimony "totally without authorization".
He went on to call for Feinstein to face a "tough" primary challenge in her 2018 reelection campaign.
The claim was made to a US Senate committee by Joshua Levy, from Fusion GPS, which commissioned the file. Republican Sens. Charles Grassley, Iowa, committee chair, and Lindsey Graham, S.C., also on the committee with Feinstein, have referred Simpson for criminal prosecution.
Mr Trump has derided the dossier as politically motivated, and several Republican-led committees are investigating whether it formed the basis for the FBI's initial investigation into Russian election interference.
After Democrats began paying for the research, Fusion GPS hired Christopher Steele, a former British spy, to gather intelligence about any ties between the Kremlin and then-candidate Trump and his associates. Kevin de L-on, the California state Senate president, is challenging her from the left - charging that Feinstein hasn't been aggressive enough against Trump.
She told an NBC News reporter that she regrets not speaking to Grassley beforehand, citing her cold as a possible factor. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., was explaining the outlines of an agreement that six senators had reached to protect hundreds of thousands of young immigrants from deportation and bolster border security, the people said.

The phone is said to be running Android Nougat operating system out-of-the-box with the company's own Sense UI on top. Despite the 6-inch Super LCD display the front bezels seems to be thinner and the corners are noticeably rounded off.
In January 2017, Senator John McCain turned the dossier over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation despite the fact that it contained no evidence of collusion but merely unverified smears against President Trump. "The only way to set the record straight is to make the transcript public".
A woman's work is never done it seems, and this time the woman taking up the mantle is California Senator Dianne Feinstein.
Simpson previously authorized the "Steele Dossier" that investigated the president's ties to Russian Federation, and he was irate with the GOP for selectively releasing only portions of the document to protect the president and the Republican Party. Shortly after, Feinstein released the transcript.
He said: "He has golf courses in Scotland and Ireland and one of the facets of United Kingdom company law is that private companies have to file public financial statements".
Also, according to Simpson, Steele was so horrified by what he was finding that he contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation instead of just reporting back to his Clintonian masters.
It was unclear what Trump meant by saying that Republicans should take control.
