Ford has officially entered the SUV performance segment with the reveal of the new 2019 Edge ST.
Ford has unveiled the 2019 Edge SUV with a major face-lift and technology overhaul. That is connected to a quicker-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission that routes power to all four wheels. On Thursday, the carmaker pulled the cover off the lastest member of its Ford Performance division: the Edge ST SUV.
According to Ford, the Edge ST will have the most powerful V6 engine in its class that includes a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engine. It rides on 20-inch alloy wheels as standard but 21-inch rims are available as an option too.
There's also built-in WiFi with a 50-foot radius, wireless charging pad and the latest Sync 3 infotainment system, which has one feature that could come in very handy in a speedy vehicle like the Edge ST: Waze integration, including its police car-spotting tool.
The new ST accompanies a refresh for the entire Edge lineup, which Ford calls its "medium-utility" vehicle.
UIDAI introduces 'Virtual ID' to strengthen security of Aadhaar data
Aadhaar-body UIDAI today announced a new two-layer key system to strengthen the security of Aadhaar holders. This will eliminate many agencies storing Aadhaar numbers while enabling paperless KYC.
In terms of looks, the new Edge ST SUV stands out from the other 2019 Ford Edge vehicles by featuring deeper side skirts, a black hexagonal grille, and dual exhaust outlets.
Lower trim levels of the 2019 Edge will introduce a bunch of new safety features to the lineup, including standard post-collision braking, which helps reduce potential secondary impacts after a crash, optional evasive steering assist, which provides steering support in an emergency maneuver and optional adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane centering.
Unfortunately, we don't have pricing or the date of availability yet, but with the 2019 Ford Edge ST set to make its formal debut next week at the Detroit Auto Show, we can expect the full details soon.
Standard on all Edge models is FordPass Connect, with a Wi-Fi hotspot that gives internet access to up to 10 devices.
