DeMar DeRozan is Raptors Player of The Week

Nets fight to finish, but fall to Raptors in overtime

They had a chance, but ultimately they couldn't execute in the waning, frenetic seconds as Miami escaped with a 90-89 win, snapping Toronto's home win streak at 12 games.

DeRozan, 28, says he never forgets where he came from and has a tradition before every game.

DeMar DeRozan led Toronto with 25 points on 10-of-29 shooting - struggling much of the night until the fourth, but his late-game heroics weren't enough.

During their last five games, the Nets have scored an average of 99.4 points per game (7.0 below their season average) and allowed an average of 94.8 points per game (13.9 below their season average).

All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry is day-to-day with a bone bruise on his tailbone, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The usually raucous Air Canada Centre crowd was bored and quiet. They've won 73 percent of their games and boast top-notch offensive and defensive ratings. His tremendous play has brought the Raptors' franchise back to relevance, especially since the team is the second best in the Eastern Conference with a 27-10 record.

Spencer Dinwiddie, who tallied a career-high 31 points on the night to go with eight assists, watched his game-winning attempt fly over the backboard as he fell to the ground. Allen played a tough game against Toronto, finishing with 14 points and five rebounds, and a monster dunk over Valanciunas. He has 12 30-point performances overall this season.

Sutherland Springs shooting victim Ryland Ward, 5, headed home this week
Ryland's stepmother Joann Ward and his sisters, 5-year-old Brooke Ward and 7-year-old Emily Garza, died in the shooting. Duncan, assistant chief of the Stockdale Fire Department, told ABC News that he pulled Ryland to safety.

They should also be highly motivated to rebound from the rout against a Raptors team 2.5 games ahead of them in the standings.

Balanced Effort: Many NBA teams talk about the importance of players one through twelve.

Despite DeRozan's struggles, he was 6-of-21 after three quarters, the Raptors were still in it heading into the game's final period. Brooklyn had just two blocks as a team. The rookie finished with five points, and his 11 assists were his most since returning from a recent shoulder injury that sidelined him for six games.

Playing on a back-to-back is always a challenge, let alone when the first game goes to overtime on the road and results in the loss of a starter.

The opening five minutes of the game looked like the previous meeting as the Raptors made their first five shots and jumped out to a 13-1 lead against the Nets, who missed their first five shots.
