Chris Matthews apologizes for making 'Cosby pill' joke before Hillary interview

The joke was a reference to accusations that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted women.

MSNBC host Chris Matthews is apologizing for a joke he made at Hillary Clinton's expense before a January 5, 2016, interview with the then-Democratic presidential candidate.

He asks, "Can I have some of the queen's waters?"

In a statement, Matthews offered a mea culpa for the remark.

Chris Matthews was caught on hot mic audio mocking Hillary Clinton and then joking that he should have brought along date rape drugs for his interview with the the former Secretary of State.

A spokesperson for Clinton did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but aides to the former Democratic presidential candidate expressed revulsion and bewilderment over the footage. Also watch the interview.
