BREAKING: Martha McSally launches Senate campaign in heated GOP race

"That's why I told Washington Republicans to grow a pair of ovaries and get the job done", she added.

The Air Force colonel and first female fighter pilot in that branch of the military is now serving her second term in the House Representatives.

"Like our president, I'm exhausted of PC politicians and their BS excuses", McSally said in her hard-hitting announcement video, released Friday, that also highlighted her career as an Air Force fighter pilot and her eight-year fight to end a military policy requiring female soldiers in certain Muslim-majority countries to wear robes over their military uniforms. "Now, I am running for the Senate to fight the fights that must be won".

"She opposed Donald Trump as a candidate and has undermined him as president, which is why leading conservatives are rejecting McSally and are lining up behind a true reformer in Dr. Kelli Ward".

But in a sign of how thoroughly Trump now dominates her party, McSally has been snuggling up to the 45th president in preparation for her Senate run. Her comments came amid a series of public appearances and social media posts as she trekked across the state flying a World War II-era fighter plane.

John McCain's memorable - some might say notorious - 2010 television commercial in which the veteran Arizona Republican promises to "Complete the danged fence", McSally is seen walking along a fence while her voiceover promises to secure the border.

Furthermore, in the video, McSally left no doubt about her alliance with the president by including a picture of herself with Trump, as well as, a video clip of the president calling her "tough". Kelli Ward and notorious former Maricopa County, Ariz.

McSally also shared a stern rhetoric on immigration that Trump has often made headlines with.

Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard reacts to Philippe Coutinho's £142m move to Barcelona
Klopp says that Liverpool won't make insane things in January to replace Coutinho . He was not ready to do that anymore. "You will probably know before I do".

Yet she has tacked right in recent months and aligned herself with Trump as the 2018 campaign season neared.

On Twitter on Friday, McSally thanked Trump for attacking Democrats who are contemplating a government shutdown to protect young immigrants known as "Dreamers".

McSally also co-sponsored an immigration plan released by House conservatives this week that would reduce legal immigration levels by 25 percent, block federal grants to sanctuary cities and restrict the number of relatives that immigrants already in the US can bring here. McSally, one of the few women on track to make general in the armed forces, says the dress code requires female military personnel to dress while off the base in "host nation attire" - a traditional Muslim head-to-toe garment called an abaya.

The Arizona race is seen by Republican and Democratic operatives as a key battleground in the competition for the Senate majority. Trump won Arizona in 2016 by less than 4 percentage points.

"I absolutely refused to bow down to Sharia Law", McSally says in the video.

The victor will face off against likely Democratic opponent Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, who is a strong favorite to win her party's nomination. And she concludes with a declaration that "after taking on terrorists in combat, I'm not afraid of the liberals in the Senate".

Democrats, meanwhile, are practically giddy about what they view as a race to the right in the Republican field that could make it hard for the primary victor to prevail in November.
