Virat Kohli replaces Shahrukh Khan as India's top-ranking celebrity brand

This isn't the first time Salman has defeated SRK.

The actor who is now addressed as the Global Icon of India made it to the list at the 7th spot and has total earnings of Rs 68 crore. But Khan had many endorsements of several brands to get him back to the top spot.

The list was released on the same day as his eagerly awaited "Tiger Zinda Hai", which is expected to add to his Rs 232.83 crore.

Among the top 10 in the Forbes list, there are only three cricketers along with 8 actors. Virat Kohli endorsed 20 brands while Akshay Kumar endorsed 18 brands.

While the first and second position on the Forbes India Celebrity 100 List is taken by Salman and Shah Rukh, Virat has secured the third position on the much talked about list.

Commenting on the findings, Duff & Phelps MD and Region Leader - India, Japan and Southeast Asia Varun Gupta said, "For the first time since we began publishing our rankings, Shah Rukh Khan has slipped from the top ranking and been replaced by Virat Kohli". However, their cumulative earnings has declined by nearly 20 percent, down to Rs 504.05 crore compared to last year's total of Rs 626.52 crore.

"In addition to Kohli, other young celebrities such as actress Alia Bhatt, actor Varun Dhawan and badminton champion P.V. Sindhu have either risen in the rankings or entered our top 15 list, backed by note-worthy performances in their respective fields and strong endorsement signings over the previous year", Gupta added. The number of Bollywood actors is down from 35 to 33, reducing their cumulative earnings by 13 percent from the previous year. Both the films together grossed Rs 239 crore.

His captaincy predecessor, MS Dhoni, suffered a four-point slip from 9th place last year to 13th this year. There is one woman in the top 10, Priyanka Chopra, at No 7 with Rs 68 crore. Dhoni fell from rank five in 2016 to eight this year with Rs 63.77 crore.
