The United Nations Security Council will vote on Monday on a draft resolution calling for the withdrawal of US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, diplomats said, a move likely to face a Washington veto. The draft United Nations text expresses "deep regret at recent decisions concerning the status of Jerusalem".
Arab foreign ministers met in Cairo, Egypt recently to discuss the the decision of the USA while other leaders and senior officials from Muslim countries are expected to hold an extraordinary summit today in Istanbul, Turkey.
Israel seized control of the eastern part of the city in the 1967 Middle East war and sees the whole of Jerusalem as its undivided capital.
The draft council resolution "demands that all states comply with Security Council resolutions regarding the Holy City of Jerusalem, and not to recognize any actions or measures contrary to those resolutions".
"Because it is under occupation we can't just go there and open an embassy", Erdogan said in a speech to his ruling party on Sunday in the city of Karaman.
The response came a day after senior official in Washington said the U.S. expects the Western Wall in Jerusalem to be part of Israel.
Support for Palestine State has also come from China, according to Russia Today.

Hanna said that the there may be efforts by the Palestinians and Turkey to take the issue to the UN General Assembly if the U.S. vetoes the resolution.
