Earthquake of 5.5 magnitude hits Delhi-NCR, Uttarakhand; epicentre East Dehradun

Everything was moving for a while. According to the Meteorological Department, the center of the quake was in Rudraprayag district in Uttarakhand, about 121 km east of Dehradun. The strong tremors have jolted whole North India with the intensity of 5.5 on the Ritcher scale.

According to the IMD's National Seismological Centre, the quake occurred at 8:49 pm.

There was no immediate report of any injury or destruction in parts of Delhi-NCR.

In Uttarakhand, tremors were felt in Champawat, Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Ramnagar, Tehri and Chamoli districts of the state.

Uttarakhand comes in an area which is more prone to natural disaster.

The natural disaster struck the region at 20:49 (08:49 pm) at a depth of 30 KM.

So far there were no reports of any damage or loss of lives in the quake.
