Nintendo Switch Touches 2.5 Million Units Sold in Japan; PS4 Now At 5.5 Million

According to Sony's latest estimates, the PlayStation 4 has sold over 70 million units, 70.6 million to be exact.

The PlayStation 4 games console has surpassed 70 million units ahead of the big Christmas season, Sony today confirmed. It will be interesting to see how much more units Sony can sell. The PSVR is doing alright too, with a two million sold count, and 12.2 million copies sold at retail and digitally.

Fortunately for Sony, unlike a lot of products at the company, the PS4 continues to be an overwhelming success. The Japanese games-maker further re-affirms commitment to the PlayStation VR platform with a neat statistic: 150 titles have been released for the virtual reality headset to date. These include the new God of War, Detroit: Become Human, Spider-Man, the Shadow of the Colossus remake and Days Gone. There's also more than 130 videogames and other content now in development for the headset states the company, all due to be released by the end of 2018.

How the Mysterious Da Vinci Buyer Is Related to Saudi's Crown Prince
The previous owner of Salvator Mundi was a Russian businessman, Dmitry Rybolovlev, who purchased it for $127 million in 2013. He is a board member of Energy Holdings International , an energy company with business in Middle East, Asia and Americas.

"I can not thank our fans and partners enough", Andrew House said, Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO.

The more surprising result is perhaps the faster sales of PS4 which launched back in 2013, yet managed to sell through more than 20 million in a single year. The survival horror arcade game will be free until January 2 for PlayStation Plus members in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. Despite having successful product launches of Nintendo Switch and Xbox One S, both the companies failed to generate sufficient lucrative gains that could beat the financial standing of Sony's PlayStation.

Sony's having a stellar year with great exclusives coupled with cheap hardware.
