United reach UEFA Champions League Last 16

Manchester United will be without Nemanja Matic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Tuesday's Champions League group match against CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford, manager Jose Mourinho said.

United can of course derail that attempt, inflict City's first defeat of the season, and cut the gap to the top for five points if they can take all three points, but Mourinho has declared that facing CSKA is the only thing the players and coaching staff are interested in for now.

Only a very heavy loss at the hands of CSKA, combined with a Basel win over Benfica, would see United not qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League, but Mourinho is taking the game as seriously as ever.

As a result United will no doubt make changes for this clash, although Paul Pogba should start given that he is suspended for Sunday's game.

The Manchester giants will lock horns at Old Trafford next weekend in a match that could have a huge say in the title race, but Mourinho will not allow his players to think about that clash with Champions League qualification yet to be finalised.

"He is okay but he needs, now and again, specific work on the muscle that supports that knee that went through such a hard surgery", the boss told us.

Who could Premier League teams draw in the Champions League?

United are unbeaten in 20 European home games, but CSKA have won all four matches on their travels this season having come through two rounds of qualifiers. I am not going to make him play so Matic is out. "When he works really hard on that, he gets fatigue and you can not play with fatigue". To work really hard for a certain period of time, he can not play in these days, so we chose to do that after Watford.

"Because he plays tomorrow. It is something that we knew would happen now and again, that he needs to stop playing to become ready for harder work for prevention". "Since he was back from injury he's been phenomenal".

Indeed, Jose Mourinho's side boast a three-point advantage over second-placed Basel and third-placed CSKA, meaning that a draw would be enough to guarantee first position in the group.

And despite his change in goal, it does not seem that he is willing to give the likes of Luke Shaw and other fringe men a run-out.

'When you speak about Luke you are right, he's working for an opportunity.
