The 26-year-old Shape of You " singer was the most-streamed artist on music service Spotify globally in 2017, and his third album Divide, topped the United States album charts.

Ed, 26, admitted he'd definitely be up for the honour of performing some of his hits at next year's royal wedding as he was awarded his MBE today for his services to music.

When questioned on whether he'd perform at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding if he was asked, he casually replied: "Yeah, why not?" Two honours in one day?

On December 7, Sheeran received a MBE - the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire - for his work in the arts, and was presented with the chivalrous distinction at Buckingham Palace.

Asked about what had made him a star worthy of royal recognition, Ed added, "I don't have a vast amount of talent compared to other people, I think talent is like 30 per cent of it and persistence, drive and self-belief are the other ones, which I guess are all the same thing".

Recently, it was announced that Ed had topped two of YouTube's trending lists for the United Kingdom in 2017 and "Shape of You" came number 2 on the list of most-watched YouTube music videos, coming second to "Despacito".
