Unfortunately her dream job turned into a nightmare, in what she describes as "a horrific, demoralizing and abusive experience at the hands (literally) of one of my acting idols". Things only got worse from there, as she describes Hoffman repeatedly groping her thigh in the flimsy slip her character wore while the two were confined to a small area just off stage waiting for their cue. Six to eight shows a week.
"He kept it up and got more and more aggressive", Rossetter wrote.
"One night he actually started to stick his fingers inside me", she wrote. "I said when I came home to my wife that I never realised men were that were brutal, that men are that obvious".
These events, including photo evidence of one incident where Hoffman is shown touching Rossetter's breast is detailed in her first person exposeé in The Hollywood Reporter. Anna Graham Hunter claimed last month that Hoffman groped her and made inappropriate remarks to her in 1985 on the set of the TV film Death of a Salesman. Society seems to be on the verge of a new understanding of the prevalence and seriousness of sexual assault, and we can only hope that positive change is on the horizon. Was I doing something? Then a playwright then in her 20s in NY in 1991 told Variety that Hoffman made verbal advances and tried to convince her to leave his production company's office and go to a nearby hotel. How could the same man who fought to get me the job, who complimented my work, who essentially launched my career, who gave me the benefit of his wisdom as an actor, how could he also be this sexual power abuser?
Hoffman, 80, apologised following the allegation, saying he has "the utmost respect for women and feel bad that anything I might have done could have put her in an uncomfortable situation", and that his alleged behaviour "is not reflective of who I am".
Rossetter was an aspiring actress in NY when she read for the part of the mistress of Willy Loman in Salesman and Hoffman enthusiastically pushed for her to get the role. "Along with the nightly sexual harassment", Rossetter writes, "he eroded my confidence, my dignity".Читайте также: Ford Partners With Alibaba To Launch Electric Vehicles
Rossetter writes that the alleged misconduct began when Hoffman left something in a hotel room he had near the theater, and asked that Rossetter stop by the room with him to pick it up. "How would you like it if someone did that to you before you walked out on stage every night, Mr. Method Actor?" she said.
The 80-year-old Hoffman, whose numerous film credits include "Tootsie", "Kramer vs. Kramer", "Rain Man" and "All the President's Men", said he did not remember that episode from more than 30 years ago. "I was not. Not ever", she added.
"There's a lot of accusations and no proof yet; I don't want to see people get hurt", he said.
While Hoffman's representatives did not comment on Rossetter's allegations, they did put the publication into contact with people who had been involved with Death of a Salesman and vouched that Hoffman had not behaved with impropriety.
This week actress Ashley Judd, who was among the first women to accuse film producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment was among the personalities featured on Time magazine's Person of the Year cover, as the magazine chose to mark the global movement against sexual assault triggered by women who stepped up and named their accusers.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
