This season marks the 12th consecutive year the Detroit Red Wings and The Salvation Army have teamed up through the "Red Wings for Red Kettles" initiative to help the nonprofit reach its $7.85 million Red Kettle Campaign goal. Angel Trees decorated with tags featuring gift ideas are located throughout the community, including Briarwood Mall.

The location of those donations was not disclosed, but the Salvation Army estimated their value at $240.

The paint shop initially was given gift orders for 100 children, but provided even more than that and the cash donation.

"It makes me happy because I know it's going to good use", said Baldwin.

The Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal is a nationwide initiative where people donate to their local centre any new unwrapped toys and gifts for children, families, older people and people experiencing homelessness this Christmas.

"It impacts our community", said Pardella. "Together, as one community, we can help broken people rebuild their lives". "So, we figured out specific needs that we could involve the school with and they are helping with long-sleeved shirts for toddlers and crayons/markers. The money stays in this area", said Benner.

Majs. Paul and Sherry Moore, who took over at the Salvation Army's Northeast Ohio Division in Youngstown in July, arrived at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Lordstown "not knowing what to expect", Paul Moore said.
