Tuesday night's candlelight vigil for Mariah Woods

The court documents accuse Earl Kimrey of sexually abusing Mariah and hitting the two boys with a belt - one of them in the face, causing a nosebleed. "I wanted to bring her two gifts".

Kimrey has not been charged with the death of Mariah.

Federal Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Shelley Lynch said in a statement that Mariah's body was in Holly Shelter Creek along Shaw Highway in Pender County creek, which is about 25 miles from the child's home in Jacksonville.

Mariah was reported missing by her mother on November 27.

The FBI was analyzing items recovered during the search, which included sorting through 95,000 pounds of trash from a landfill, authorities said.

Mariah was living in a house with Kimrey and her mother, who was divorced from her father, Alex Woods.

Along with being charged with concealing Mariah's death, Kimrey is facing charges of obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, felony larceny and possession of stolen property.

Nancy Grace discusses this bombshell with lawyer and child advocate Ashley Willcott, New York psychologist and creator of Dr. Chloe Carmichael, California defense lawyer Troy Slaten, death scene investigator/forensics expert Joseph Scott Morgan, and reporter Alexis Tereszcuk in this Crime Stories episode. Authorities have arrested Kimrey in connection with the disappearance of a 3-year-old North Carolina girl.

Kimrey was described by authorities as the live-in boyfriend of the girl's mother, who reported Mariah missing Monday morning after putting her to bed in their Jacksonville home the previous night. He was being held at the Onslow County Detention Center on a $1 million bond ahead of his first court hearing Monday.

Officials have not said what led them to arrest Kimrey, or what evidence suggested that Mariah was no longer alive.

A public visitation is set for Wednesday for an Onslow County toddler whose body was found this past weekend, while a memorial fund has been set up for the family. Prosecutors say more charges are possible. "This investigation continues", said Ernie Lee, district attorney for district 4. "I will be awaiting the results of the medical examiner's report and making some decisions at that time".

Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller says their goal is to figure out exactly what happened to Mariah.

Another little girl showed up with her family to place a tiara on the sign, because "Mariah looked like a princess" in the pictures shared with the news.
