AAA releases their 2017 holiday travel forecast

This marks the ninth consecutive year of increased holiday year-end travel, defined as Saturday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Jan. 1. This will likely contribute to delays and other issues of all sorts during that time.

According to data released by AAA, almost 107.3 million Americans will travel this year for the holidays.

"Across the board this year, travel has increased year-over-year for every major holiday weekend - Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving - and we project the same for the year-end holiday period", says Amy Parmenter, a spokesperson for AAA in Greater Hartford.

The projected travel volume is an increase of 3.1 percent nationally and 3.6 percent in OH, and marks the ninth consecutive year of year-end holiday travel growth. The 6.4 million, though, is a much lower number than airlines expected.
