3 Dead in Shooting at New Mexico High School Police

Authorities said that three people were killed, including the shooter, following a shooting at a New Mexico high school. Authorities said the school building was evacuated and the students were escorted to a safe location.

There were no other injuries reported, state police said.

Sheriff's officials say that the shooter is in custody and that there are reported victims wounded, but it wasn't clear how many. We do have officers located at all of the schools in Bloomfield and they are all on lock down.

Police asked parents to stay away from the school, which was placed on lockdown. Thursday's shooting appears to be the most serious in a New Mexico school in years.

The Albuquerque Journal reports that according to San Juan County Sheriff Ken Christesen, three people, believed to be students, are dead. He says the shooter also was dead but didn't say if the suspect was among the three.

Authorities are responding to a shooting at a high school in northwest New Mexico.
