The helicopter landed at the Army Barracks, Nkwagu in Abakaliki and he was received by the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, his deputy Eric Kelechi Igwe and the Minister of Solid Minerals, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu.

Former Governor of the state, Sam Egwu, commended the president for the recent decision to pay former Biafra Police officers pensions.

The president also attended the unveiling of the statue of one of the founding fathers of Nigeria Akanu Ibiam.

At another event with South East traditional rulers led by Eze Eberechi Dick, the president was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Ochioha Ndigbo (Leader of Igbo people).

Speaking, the state Governor, David Umahi thanked the president for the visit, noting that it confounded those who doubted the possibility of his visiting the state.

In an address presented on behalf of Ebonyi Elders, Egwu also called for urgent intervention by the federal government to curb intra-communal clashes as well as cross-border disputes in the region. I want to assure you that we will deliver on our promise.
