The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has written to the Election Commission to postpone the release of "Padmavati" in order to avoid collision with the Gujarat Elections, scheduled for December 9 and 14. To the latest, the protesters have broken into the theater and destroyed the assets there.
About 30 people were arrested in the case.
On the other hand, a large number of Rajput women in traditional dress also protested and many of them tore off posters of the film. The theater has stopped screening the trailer for now.
Deepika says that the makers of the movie are only answerable to the Central Board Of The Film Certification (CBFC) and she strongly says that nothing can stop the release of the movie.
Deepika, who stars as Padmini, told news agency IANS on Tuesday, "Where have we reached as a nation?"
Bhansali has repeatedly rebuffed the rumours about an alleged dream sequence between Padmavati and Khilji and even released a video saying that the film honours the valour of Rajputs and the queen.
