IT officials conduct raid at Jayalalithaa's Poes garden residence

In his tweet, TTV Dhinakaran also wondered "how far Edappadi Palaniswamy and his deputy O Panneerselvam - who have 'pawned" AIADMK - will go to save their government and position.' Initial reports quoting sources saidI-T sleuths were restricting the search to Jayalalithaa's personal assistant S Poongundran's room within the compound.

Meanwhile, supporters of sidelined AIADMK leader and a nephew of Sasikala, TTV Dhinakaran protested outside the Poes Garden residence.

The Income Tax (I-T) department sleuths had detected undisclosed income of Rs 1,430 crore in respect of 10 assessee groups which included those linked to Sasikala, her kin and their associates.

After Jayalalithaa's death, Sasikala had continued living at the Poes Garden home. Sources said the searches at Poes Garden were conducted after obtaining a court order as no one is staying there. "We have not searched the entire Poes Garden premises".

Dhinkaran reacting to the developments on Twitter and seemingly blamed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami for orchestrating the raids.

As news of the search operation spread, AIADMK workers started arriving at the late leader's residence in droves, and additional police force was deployed to maintain peace.

Poongundran's house was also raided earlier and he was summoned for questioning two times by the IT department.

"We did not allow IT officials to search Amma's room", said Jaya TV managing editor Vivek Jayaraman, a relative of Ms Sasikala.
