USC's Deebo Samuel Says He Didn't Break Leg

Kentucky football opens SEC play against South Carolina

Benny Snell Jr. rushed for two touchdowns and Kentucky's defense held off SC to win its fourth straight over the Gamecocks, 23-13, on Saturday night.

For the first time since 2010, United Kingdom football is 3-0 after defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks on the road 23-13. "I was pretty amazed the first time I ever played down there".

The Gamecocks (2-1, 0-1 SEC) got the jump on the Wildcats (3-0, 1-0) as Deebo Samuel took a pass from Jake Bentley 68 yards for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage.

SC gained only 54 yards on the ground, led by Rico Dowdle with 23 yards.

After Edwards' interception, the offense woke up, scoring two touchdowns on their next four drives to take a 14-6 lead. SC field goal kicker Parker White missed both of his opportunities - from 52 and 54 yards, while Woznick missed from 42 yards. Benny Snell ran in both touchdowns in the wildcat formation, which the Cats had struggled with leading into today's game. But Kentucky's defense did not allow the Gamecocks any more points after that.

Samuel had five catches for 122 yards and his sixth touchdown of the season. Kicking was an issue for SC, who missed all three of their field goal attempts and an extra point attempt off Samuel's opening touchdown.

Johnson completed 16 of 25 passes for 169 yards. But he left the game in the fourth quarter with an injury.

"He's going to be part of everything we do", Bentley said after the game.

South Carolina's dream season? Game time is 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on the SEC Network.
