Tottenham boss Pochettino explains why he took managerial risk with Eric Dier

Tottenham consider replacing Harry Kane with £17.5m striker if he joins Real Madrid, Man United also linked

Harry Kane will stay at Tottenham for a “long time”

Kane has emerged as one of the world's finest forwards in the last couple of years, with his hauls of 25 and 29 goals winning him the Premier League Golden Boot in each of the last two seasons.

Last season's Premier League Golden Boot victor has started the season slowly with two goals in five league games for Spurs, although he has been sharper in Europe where he found the net twice in the 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund.

Mauricio Pochettino has hit out at Tim Sherwood and others for saying that Spurs must win trophies to keep hold of Harry Kane.

The Belgium worldwide has been a key player for Pochettino's Tottenham in the last two seasons, but the manager increasingly has to pick and choose when he starts, and Dembele has not featured in five of the club's past 10 league games, spanning this season and last.

Sanchez and Tottenham have begun the new season in decent fashion, overcoming West Ham on Saturday lunchtime to maintain their Premier League title pursuit.

"It says clearly that people recognise his value and he's one of the best, playing for Tottenham, when we still haven't won trophies".

"I had a fantastic time at Ajax and we reached the Europa League final".

Dembele, who turned 30 in July, has a longstanding issue with the top of his left foot and he has said he will always play with some pain, despite going under the knife in May.

Kane has so far scored an impressive 19 times in just 28 games against London rivals.

Martial is happy again at Man United - Mourinho
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has said Luke Shaw needs to "improve" if he wants a place in his starting eleven. They have greeted us really well and come to support us which is the most important thing".

"I respect every single opinion".

"Tottenham have been a great club for Harry and he's been paying them back tenfold".

Mauricio Pochettino has revealed his decision to put complete faith in Eric Dier's midfield qualities was the biggest gamble of his Tottenham Hotspur career so far. This doesn't surprise me.

"(On Wednesday) we had a dinner in a restaurant in London with all the staff and players that I invite of course.

"I think we should be proud of what we've managed to do so far, but I don't think we can be proud of achieving anything because I don't think we have", the England worldwide said.

Pochettino added: 'I think the most important thing last season was that he was the player in the squad that played the most.

Pochettino insists Dier's flexibility is a strength, not a weakness, not least because it enables him to become a core member of the starting XI.

"He is such an important player for us", said the Argentine.
