The president also thanked the United Nations for its assistance in Nigeria's battle against Boko Haram.
Mr. Buhari similarly praised the worldwide community for delivering security and humanitarian assistance in the Sahel and Lake Chad regions, which have been ravaged by terrorism.
"We shall also cooperate in addressing the growing transnational crimes such as forced labour, modern day slavery, human trafficking and cybercrime".
Buhari commended UN's role in settling thousands of innocent civilians caught in conflicts in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Buhari says the worldwide community needs to work together to stop Islamic State extremist fighters from infiltrating into areas of Africa's Sahel region where "response capacity is weak".

He proposed for a strong United Nations delegation, from all regions of the globe to negotiate with the North Korean authorities. The United States is ready, willing and able but hopefully this will not be necessary.
The Nigerian delegation is expected to also canvass the support of United Nations member states for the Buhari administration's efforts towards combating illicit financial flows to foster sustainable development.
