Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) observed the 67th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "Seva Diwas" (day of service) across the country on Sunday. In Kolkata, BJP workers took to streets to celebrate their leader's birthday.

Like every year, the Prime Minister began his 67th birthday celebration seeking his mother Heeraben's blessings at Gandhinagar in Gujarat.

Modi is likely to visit his Lok Sabha constituency for two days on September 22.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman greeted PM Modi on his birthday and participated in "Sewa Diwas".

According to the news from Varanasi, a day before Modi's birthday, BJP workers started celebrating his birthday by distributing candies and copies books in 129 primary schools.

He also claimed that Prime Minister Modi has worked extensively towards poverty alleviation, and under his supervision, the government has undertaken "historic poverty alleviation initiatives (that are) taking shape at a scale unheard of in the history of India".

The dam is the second biggest dam in the world after the Grand Coulee Dam in the United States. After this, Modi will go to the closing ceremony of Narmada festival and address the gathering in Dabhoi.
